Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland early Damascus cactus pot

Extra: The Damascus and Rhodian mat glaze patterns were designed and developed by Daniël Harkink and L.J. Müller, ca. 1908. The new technique was soon followed by other factories, leading to numerous different patterns up to the 1930’s of what we now consider to be typical Goudaware. The earliest examples were hand thrown, like this cactus pot. Also, the factory was very hesitant at first to put the Zuid-Holland logo on the products, not sure if this was the quality they were striving for.
