Country: Alitine Blumenthal-Bouten was born in 1923 in The Hague and studied under W.H. de Vries at the Instituut voor Kunstbijverheidsonderwijs in Amsterdam. She went to Switzerland where she married Herman Blumenthal (1898-1949), who had a small pottery workshop that he started with his first wife Fanny Schlatter (1899-1947). After Blumenthal died in 1949, Alitina tried to run the pottery, but eventually returned to the Netherlands where she founded De Blauwe Dolfijn in Waalre.
